It is an Olympic sport whose nature is to lift as much weight as possible, using a steel bar with steel discs at each end, which ultimately determine the ultimate weight of the effort. This element is called a barbell.
It is one of the oldest disciplines having its origins in China in 3,600 BC. It was precisely the Chinese who were the pioneers in the practice of this strength sport.
All the elements used for the practice of this sport (bars, discs, platforms, timer, necklaces, among others) must be endorsed and approved by the IWF, so that the records achieved in said competitions are recognized by it.
