Considered a highly demanding sport, rowing takes place in the waters of rivers, lakes or ports, where the rower must move the boat with oars, using all his strength, speed, power, resistance and timing. During the competition, the athlete is positioned with his back to the boarding direction, with his feet secured to the boat, while the seat or bench can be fixed or mobile; in the latter it slides back and forth on the rails.
Rowing was born as a sport in Great Britain and since 1900 it has been present at the Olympic Games. Currently, the International Federation of Rowing Societies is in charge of regulating this sport internationally.
