Originally from Asia, and with the initial name of 'Poona', due to the city where it emerged (Pune), badminton is a racket sport in which players, whether in pairs or individually, are located at both ends of the a field 13.4 meters long, separated by a net or mesh, to face each other.
Although some may confuse it with tennis, badminton replaces the ball with a shuttlecock, an element with a semi-sphere with a feather base that must be hit with the rackets until it passes the net and falls into the opponent's area.
Badminton competitions are held indoors. In the case of the Valledupar 2022 Bolivarian Games, they will be held at the Julio Villazón Baquero Convention Center.
